Terms of Service

Last updated: August 23, 2026

Welcome to Adventroop. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Adventroop (“we”, “us”) covering your use of the Adventroop website and services (the “Service”). By creating an account, booking an activity, hosting, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What Adventroop is (and isn’t)

Adventroop is a marketplace that connects people who want to join outdoor and social activities (“guests”) with independent organizers who run them (“hosts”). Hosts are independent contractors, not our employees, agents or partners. When you book an activity, your contract for that activity is with the host. We provide the platform — discovery, booking, payments and group chat — but we do not run, supervise or control the activities themselves.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or book an activity.
  • Keep your account information accurate and your sign-in method secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, harm other users, or abuse the platform.

3. Bookings and payments

  • Prices are shown per person in US dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.
  • We charge a platform service fee on bookings. The fee is included in how we settle with hosts and does not add to the listed price you pay unless shown at checkout.
  • A booking is confirmed when payment completes (or, where payments are not yet enabled for a listing, when the host confirms your reservation).
  • Hosts set each session’s date, capacity and minimum group size. A session may be called off if it does not reach the host’s minimum — see section 4.

4. Cancellations and refunds

  • Each listing shows its cancellation policy — Flexible (free cancellation until 24 hours before the session), Standard (72 hours) or Strict(7 days). Cancel before the cutoff and any payment is refunded in full to your original payment method. After the cutoff, payments are non-refundable.
  • If the host cancels a session — including because it did not reach their minimum group size — everyone booked is refunded in full, regardless of policy.
  • If the host moves a session, you may cancel for a full refund within 48 hours of being told, whatever the listing’s policy says. Being pushed past a cutoff is not you missing it.
  • Spots booked for other people. Only the person who paid can cancel the booking, and doing so cancels every spot on it — including spots their guests have already claimed. A guest who claimed a spot can drop out of their own spot at any time: it returns to the person who paid, and nothing is refunded to the guest, because nothing was charged to them.
  • Refunds are issued through Stripe and typically arrive within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

5. Assumption of risk and waiver

Activities on Adventroop — surfing, climbing, hiking, camping, water sports and more — carry inherent risks, up to and including serious injury. By booking, you confirm you are physically able to participate, you accept those risks, and you agree to the Liability Release & Assumption of Risk presented at booking. Follow your host’s safety instructions at all times.

6. Hosting

  • Hosts must describe listings accurately, hold any licenses, permits or insurance their activity requires, and run sessions safely and as described.
  • Host payouts are processed through Stripe (including Stripe Connect where enabled). Our platform fee applies to all bookings. Payout timing follows the schedule shown in your host dashboard. The current rate and release window are on your fees page.
  • We may unpublish listings that are inaccurate, unsafe or draw credible complaints.

7. Community conduct and content

  • Be kind. Harassment, hate, discrimination, spam and unsafe behavior are not welcome — in Campfires, reviews, profiles or on the trail.
  • You own the content you post and grant us a license to display it on the Service. Reviews must reflect genuine experiences.
  • Use the in-app report and block tools for anything that crosses a line; we review reports and act on them.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not vet, endorse or guarantee any host, guest or activity, and we are not responsible for the conduct of users on or off the platform.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Adventroop will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for personal injury arising from activities booked through the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the platform fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Adventroop harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your content, your participation in or hosting of activities, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site; continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
